जैनेंद्र कुमार का जन्म अलीगढ़ के कोडियागंज नामक कस्बे में सन 1905 ईसवी में हुआ था।
Jainendra Kumar was born in 1905 AD in a town called Kodiaganj in Aligarh.
बाल्यावस्था में ही इनके पिता की मृत्यु हो गई थी। इनका पालन-पोषण इनकी माता और मामा ने किया। इनकी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा हस्तिनापुर के जैन गुरुकुल ऋषि ब्रह्माचार्यश्रम में हुई। 1919 में उन्होंने मैट्रिक परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण की। उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के लिए इन्होंने काशी हिंदू विश्वविद्यालय में प्रवेश लिया। किंतु सन 1921 में असहयोग आंदोलन में भाग लेने के कारण इनकी शिक्षा का कर्म टूट गया ।
His father had died in his childhood. He was raised by his mother and maternal uncle. His early education took place in the Jain Gurukul Rishi Brahmaacharyashram of Hastinapur. In 1919 he passed the matriculation examination. To get higher education, he took admission in Banaras Hindu University. But in 1921, due to his participation in the non-cooperation movement, the work of his education was broken.
सन 1921 ईस्वी से 1923 ईस्वी के बीच इन्होंने अपनी माता की सहायता से व्यापार किया और उसमे सफलता प्राप्त की है। सन 1923 ईस्वी में यह नागपुर पहुंच गए और राजनीतिक पत्रों में संवाददाता के के रूप में कार्य करने लगे। उसी समय इन्हें गिरफ्तार करके जेल भेजा गया जहां यह 3 माह तक रहे। इनमें स्वाध्याय की प्रकृति छात्र जीवन से ही थी जेल में स्वाध्याय के साथ ही उन्होंने साहित्य सर्जन का कार्य भी प्रारंभ किया। इनकी पहली कहानी खेल सन 1928 ईस्वी में विशाल भारत में प्रकाशित हुई थी। इसके बाद यह निरंतर साहित्य सृजन में प्रवर्तक रहे 24 दिसंबर 1988 ईस्वी को इनका देहांत हो गया था।
Between 1921 AD and 1923 AD, he did business with the help of his mother and got success in it. In 1923 AD, he reached Nagpur and started working as a correspondent in political papers. At the same time he was arrested and sent to jail where he remained for 3 months. Among these, the nature of self-study was from student life, along with self-study in jail, he also started the work of literary surgeon. His first story Khel was published in the year 1928 in Vishal Bharat. After this, he was a promoter of continuous literary creation, he died on 24 December 1988 AD
जिनेंद्र जी ने 'कहानी' 'उपन्यास' 'निबंध' 'स्मरण' आदि अनेक गतिविधियों को समृद्ध किया है इनकी प्रमुख कृतियां निम्नलिखित है।
Jinendra ji has enriched many activities like 'story' 'novel' 'essay' 'remembrance' etc. His main works are as follows.
निबंध संग्रह.…..'प्रस्तुत प्रसन्न' 'जड़ की बात' ' साहित्य का प्रिय' और मंथन ' 'सोच विचार' 'काम' 'प्रेम और परिवार' ।
Essay Collection…..'Submitted happy' 'Root ki Baat' 'Dear of literature' and brainstorming 'Thinking thoughts' 'Work' 'Love and family'.

Novel .... Parakh, Sunita, Resignation, Kalyani, Sukhda, Bhat, Muktibodh,
कहानियां.... फांसी, जलसंधि, एक रात, दो चिड़िया, नीलम देश की राजकन्या आदि।
Stories.... hanging, water treaty, one night, two birds, Neelam country's princess etc.
